Let’s climb down from the Austrian mountains towards the seashores and immerse ourselves in the beauty of a colonial city on the Caribbean Sea.
Willemstad is the paradise of the Caribbean Sea, the capital of Curaçao and a constituent country of the Netherlands. It was founded by the Spaniards back in the colonial times, then the Dutch settled there, so today its architecture bears resemblance to both styles.
An old harbor city with two distinct historical and colorful parts of the city overlooking each other over the bay of St. Anna. With its narrow and cozy streets, Punda was established in the 17th century, while the new city area of Ostrobanda was established in the 18th century featuring many residential areas on maze-like streets. Queen Emma bridge connects the two parts of the city.
This unique and picturesque city was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Willemstad, Curaçao.
