After having seen the enormous trees, let’s make our way back to Hungary to the Káli basin.
Often referred to as the “Hungarian Toscana” this land is a national treasure!
This area was under the sea millions of years ago with volcanos slowly carving and shaping the mountains. A unique land surfaced after the sea dried, featuring many mountains, cliffs and basalt “organs”, including several small ponds and marshes.
Visiting the Káli basin gives off a mediterranean vibe: cozy houses, grape trellis all around, small thirst-quenching springs and above all, amazing views from the mountaintops to the peaceful lands surrounding lake Balaton!
